I thought I might as well start broadening the test base even though this isn't an official release.

People can try out this release to see if their hardware works.
Don't try to use it for production, it isn't yet ready.

http://ftp.iso.matoilnet.org/iso/2009/ISO/Unity-Build-3.7.iso.md5.txt

It's still rough around the corners so please excuse us for it.

Also the shut down script in livecd mode generates errors.  Those are not important and can be safely ignored.

Which information do you need for help. Could you give some hints what we should post here?

basically, I need to as much hardware testing as can be found.  Also you can install stuff and test it out.  There are still a lot of broken dependencies but those are being filled daily so just keep on checking until you get the apps you need or just post a package request and hopefully one of us will have the time to get that app running for you.

Ok, no packages installed yet. This will I do in the Virtualbox first.
I have several laptops available. First a Samsung Q35. The 3.7 boots from an USB-stick without problems. The Wireless is not working because the package ipw3945u.code is not included in the drivers.

A Samsung NC10 boots up without problems. The atheros WLAN-Chip is smoothly recognized, but it gives the error message at the end of the install using the controllcenter that there is a problem with the WLAN. Nonetheless it works fine. More will follow soon.

XFCE 4.6.1 as an package request is a little to big for just doing it, but for the install of task-xfce the dependency gigolo is missing. More will follow soon.

I'll try to look into getting task-xfce to install, thanks for all the info.  I'll add the missing ucode

HP 310 Laptop boots with no problem. But more from ipw2200 Chip. As with the old pclos-stuff the WLAN is not coming up correctly. You have to choose the cheatcode nonetwork before booting to get this chip working in the Live system. Perhaps it would be good to choose this cheatcode during boot because you have to configure your network anyhow.

Ndiswrapper is missing completely. No files present. I have three wlansticks and two need ndiswrapper. :-)

For the Unity setup, it will be a lot more minimalist (basically as small as can be made so that branches can decide what to add without having to spend time removing stuff).  That's why I didn't want to add the ndiswrapper package.  That'll be to the branches to look after Smiley

Hi, installed on my eeepc 701, sound, and wireless working fine, no webcam app available to try that. Tried to install task-KDE4 without the Mandriva repo  but requires mandriva-theme-screensaver, downloaded that from Mandriva but then complained it needed a package that supplied librpmdb-5.s0.

I haven't seen that call before, strange. rpm5 is complaining.  I'll push that one to mdawkins since he's our resident expert

I think it may be a version problem. I've got librpm-5.2.so and it's asking for 5.0

Fully updated from matoilnet.

Which is the most up to date repo?

Actually we've moved the main server to ibiblio but almost every other mirror is syncing at least twice a day.
