I think this is an indeed important part, but for such work - for tons of editing with conf files, and other things - we need a good, and easy to use tool. For example, Fedora uses Kickstart for create setup files for 'respins' - where in Kickstart you can create presettings for the remaster tool. With so, ensures that every needed setting is saved in one or more setting file, what the respin/remaster tool parses, executes - and end of the process, cleaning, and makes an ISO. I say is better to talk from one frontend GUI, and one or two presetup file, under how to create your own distribution.... Is it possible make it usable for us this program or the idea?

How does this compare to mklivecd (and for that matter, can the features that zoltan is mentioning already in, or able to be added to, mklivecd)... also can fedora's remaster program produce a Live CD/DVD?  the second point is the MOST critical, as we wish to keep the live cd capabilty that we originally had... to me, it is an invaluable marketing tool.  Show people what it's like on their own computer without being forced to commit to it AND being able to get back to your original system without any problems. (i.e. Try Before You Buy)

We probably couldn't use that tool, but making our LiveCD scripts easier to use might be possible.  Maybe some simple text menus like Slackware's installers use..

I am wondering if this hacked script is what you guys are kind of thinking?
I called it Advanced-Install aimed at easy "Poorman-Install"
I was tring to make a little Frontend for all the SQFS/Remater/Installer tools.

It is a concept- V0.1 Needs Work

I would like to see Unity-Live Section in the forum.

Oh yes, I see you using Zenity there.  This kind of idea for the regular mklivecd script could also be done.

One thing which would be nice is a better cleanup-assisting script.  I made a simple one a long time ago, but there are so many things which could be cleaned up better than what I thought back then.

For now, use Branching Help.  Once there's a release, you can work with the proper Unity Linux.

I would like to see this effort done like a branch project with its own website (even if we provide the hosting etc), and then a section in Based on Unity Linux would be made.

I'm curious... is it overly-complicating things if we take this discussion in the direciton of creating an extention tool to mklivecd to cover features that can't seem to be directly implemented into mklivecd?  Something coded from scratch that calls mklivecd funcitons to either base it's own features off of or piggyback on the actual mklivecd code...  If I'm too far into left field, let me know...
